Accessibility

Accessibility is the starting point

IDD Atlas is built for people who read in different ways, use screen readers, use keyboards, or need things simple and calm.

Display settings

Turn these on and they stay on for every page on this device. You can also open them from Display settings at the top of any page.

What we do

  • We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA.
  • Plain language and short sentences.
  • Atkinson Hyperlegible, a font made to be easy to read.
  • Strong color contrast. Every page works with a keyboard and has a skip link.
  • Every photo has a description for screen readers.
  • Pages work on phones and when zoomed to 200 percent.
  • Tools on this site, like the communication card, work without an account and do not store what you type.

This is a promise, not a certificate

We check pages with automated tools and by hand, and we fix problems when we find them. Some pages on the Disability Atlas, where our search lives, may still have barriers we have not found.

Tell us about a barrier

If something is hard to use, please tell us. Use the contact form or email [email protected]. Tell us the page, what happened, and what you use (for example a screen reader or phone). We aim to reply within five business days.
